a coyote story

just to satisfy the people searching for actual material on kansas coyotes… when i was around four or so, just moved into my new house which had a big forest behind it where deer and other animals who i didnt notice as much would run in and out, i was in the basement which had a bunch of windows facing the backyard between the house and the forest and i saw a coyote right at the windows. i thought it was a wolf at the time but someone who i found reliable at the time and am sort of questioning now but dont really care told me it was much more likely that it was a coyote. my dad chased it off because a lot of us were scared but that was that, i never saw a coyote, or a wolf for that matter, up that close again. though this one time we spent a few weeks in a log cabin up in canada where a fox would come to our front door every day and we would feed it some deli meat and assumed maybe the previous owners of the house had done the same and that was why he always came over. i always wanted to pet it but i was told not to, and with good reason i’d assume, as one should never pet a wild animal. think how you’d feel if some stranger started patting your head, i’d be pretty weirded out, and if i had rabies and was in a particularly bad mood, i’d probably bite them and pass it on. such is life….
